Kenya 2 – 0 Sudan 
 
A goal in each half from team Skipper, Allan Wanga has led Kenya to a memorable victory over Sudan in the thrilling finals of the 2013 GOtv Cecafa finals played on the historic day of the nation’s commemoration of 50 years on independence.


Wanga got the first goal after 35 minutes to help the Harambee Stars take a half time lead. The stars played with urgency, flamboyance and caution and would have even capped the first half with a cricket score, save for the heroics of Ali Abdelrahman in the Sudanese goal posts.

Handed the team’s arm band following a dismissal performance against South Sudan, Wanga continued to grow in stature and composure and netted in the team’s victory over Zanzibar in the team's 2-0 Nakuru win.

Kenya has now won the cecafa championships 6 times; in 1975, 1981, 1982, 1983, 2002 and lately 2013. Speaking shortly after the game, the head coach of the Harambee Stars, Adel Amorouche hailed the spirit exhibited by the entire team right from the opening game of the campaign to the finals.
