SIR ALEX FERGUSON: KIKOSI CHA SASA NI IMARA ZAIDI YA KILE KILICHOTWAA TREBLE MWAKA 1999!!!!

Old Trafford boss reckons he has more strength in depth and could have put out two teams of internationals against Real Madrid.
Current crop: Van Persie is the talisman of United's latest generation
Sir Alex Ferguson claims his current squad is stronger than his 1999 Treble winners.Fergie boasts he could have put out a different team of internationals at the Bernabeu and still have got a result against Real Madrid. The Red Devils boss says he didn’t have this strength in depth 14 years ago when he had to put rookie Jonathan Greening on the bench for the Champions League Final in the Nou Camp.
“I think it’s nice to look back at these things and how it was done in that particular time with the squad of players I had, which is not nearly as strong as the one I have now,” said the United boss.
“Numbers wise this squad is stronger. When we went to the final, Keane and Scholes were suspended and Henning Berg was the only injury.
“But I still had to pull in a player, Greening, who had only played a few times for the club, and he actually got a winner’s medal for sitting on the bench.
“That gives you an idea of the respective strength of the squads.
“Now, it’s not just the four strikers I could change, I could change the entire team now.
"There were good internationals who weren’t even involved on Wednesday.
“I could have played a completely different team on Wednesday and I think we still would have got a result.”
Three is the magic number: United won the Treble with the last kick of the season
There are several striking parallels between 1999 and the class of 2013, as they bid to repeat their Treble success, and United have the same momentum.
Fourteen seasons ago, they did not lose a single match after a shock 3-2 home defeat to Middlesbrough in December 1998.
United are putting together a similar run and since their Champions League home defeat to Cluj in December, they have won 11 and drawn four of their last 15 games.

Just as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s late winner in an FA Cup tie against Liverpool in January 1999 gave that side the belief to make history, so Robin van Persie’s dramatic equaliser has acted as a launchpad for the current team.
“I remember we lost to Middlesbrough and we never lost again,” said Ferguson.
“It was a tough FA Cup run that season, really tough. We were up against Premier League teams in every round, just like this season.

“But I’m not thinking of anything else. I just look at the next match, thinking about winning the next match.”
While Ferguson is reluctant to talk about United’s Treble chances for fear of his players losing focus ahead of Monday’s FA Cup clash with Reading, he is delighted with the togetherness in his dressing room.

In safe hands: Fergie has backed De Gea to shine after Real heroics

Angel Martinez
He says everyone is united in the goal of delivering some silverware, even when they are not playing.
“Yes, I feel there’s a good spirit,” said Ferguson. “That’s obvious.
“I know there were a lot of players disappointed not playing on Wednesday, I’d be disappointed if they weren’t disappointed, but the ones who weren’t playing were right behind the ones who were playing and that’s good.

“As I said the other day, I’ve got all these international players, so why shouldn’t I trust them?”

David De Gea was the star of United’s draw against Real and Ferguson says the Spaniard will not get carried away by his heroics.
Fergie claims De Gea’s display will boost the maligned goalkeeper’s self-belief without making him cocky.
“A good performance helps everyone,” said the United manager. “It gives them confidence, there’s no doubt about that.

“But it won’t change him. He’ll still be the same.”
